Location: Bourne, Lincolnshire (Initial working location: The Old National School, North Street, moving to The Old Town Hall)
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week (includes frequent evening and weekend event coverage on a rota basis)
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent (4-month probationary period)

About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity to shape the future of Bourne’s historic Old Town Hall as it transforms into a vibrant heritage, arts, and entertainment venue. Made possible through funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, this project aims to restore and open a welcoming community space for the whole town.
As Centre Manager, you will provide operational leadership, overseeing day-to-day venue operations, line-managing staff and volunteers, supporting income generation, and ensuring a safe, compliant, and inclusive culture. You will work closely with the Board of Trustees and serve as one of the designated premises Licensees.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership: Oversee the day-to-day operations and safety of the venue, serving as a Responsible Key Holder and Duty Manager on a rota basis.
Programming & Events: Set the overall programme framework and approve event schedules developed by the Events & Heritage Coordinator.
Commercial & Financial Management: Manage operational budgets, procurement, and bar/cafe trading; maximise earned income through private hire and events while keeping commercial decisions aligned with our charitable aims.
People & Volunteer Management: Line-manage core staff (Events Co-Ordinator, AV Technician) and establish a robust volunteer management framework.
Compliance & Governance: Ensure operational compliance with Health & Safety, licensing, GDPR, and safeguarding regulations; maintain the operational Risk Register and report regularly to the Board of Trustees.
Marketing & Stakeholder Engagement: Support the launch of a new website and e-ticketing system, implement marketing plans, and cultivate relationships with local partners, funders, and community groups.
Heritage Fund Delivery: Ensure milestones, outputs, and evidence requirements for The National Lottery Heritage Fund activity plan are met and reported.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria:
Experience: Proven track record in delivering activities/events, managing small teams, and setting or managing budgets.
Skills & Knowledge: Strong planning, administrative, and organisational capabilities, along with commercial awareness and knowledge of event marketing.
Technical Competency: Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and social media platforms.
Personal Attributes: Warm, approachable, and empathetic communicator who can work effectively with colleagues, volunteers, external partners and the local community.
Commitment: Dedicated to embedding equality, diversity, and inclusion into all operational practices.
Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings for event coverage.
Desirable Criteria:
Prior experience in managing a venue.
Relevant degree or professional qualification in Events Management.
